Brrrrr, it's cold outside! When you are pregnant and getting dressed to battle the winter weather, you want to make sure your look is both cute and cozy. Rather than buy loads of new clothes, take a look at which of these maternity staples you should get and how to wear the ones you probably already have hanging in your closet.

Layering Tops

Piling on the layers is always essential in the winter months, especially when your body temperature is fluctuating because of pregnancy. To get into maternity layering, you should stock up on maternity t-shirts with various necklines, colours and styles. 100% cotton tops are always a good idea and are kind to your skin. If you prefer a tighter fit, try a cotton blend with a bit of stretch. Its a good idea to buy extra long t-shirts too, so that they can see you through into your second trimester.

Ponchos and Sweater Dresses

Ponchos are perfect for maternity winter dressing, as they are like wearing a huge cozy blanket! They drape nicely around your body and baby bump. Sweater dresses are also great for dressing your growing bump.

Jeans and Trousers

Maternity jeans are a must, but there are many other trousers and pants out there that are super stylish. With many styles to choose from, including skinny cords and leather leggings, they can be a great way to look festive when paired with a smart top or even a basic tee. Invest in something with a waist that can expand, so they can grow with you and you can get more for your money. Styles with a full stretch panel can be really comfy and lycra will give you plenty of stretch.

Wrap up warm in an oversized cardigan, what could be more cozy? While lying on the sofa relaxing or going out for a coffee, an oversized cardigan is great for layering too.

Shirt Dress

A shirt dress will look great over leggings and can be layered. Stylish yet comfortable the shirt dress is something you will be able to wear for work or for relaxing at the weekends.

Winter Coat

Something you will need is a warm winter coat. From smart to casual there are so may looks you can go for. Get something with a tie waist so that it will be able to grow with you and expand as your growing bump will.

Cute Pjs & Loungewear

At Christmas you really need some cute pjs to wear. From comfy cotton tops with long or short sleeves with matching pants, you can get a whole range in a variety of colours. Plaid is a great look for the winter too.

Pom Beanies & Hats

You know my obsession with pom beanies, and I’m actually quite particular with how they should fit! I like them to have a little slouch, and I love for the pom to be a different color (is that weird? Haha, just a personal preference!). Wearing hats in the winter is essential to staying warm, and I refuse to leave the house without one (which is probably why I have so many?).

10 Genius Tricks to Fake Your Beauty Sleep

Look like a beauty without the sleep

Late work nights—or, you know, Scandal binges—ruin the whole bright-eyed-and-bushy-tailed look we're always going for. But until someone figures out a way to add more hours to the day or make Netflix less addictive, we've got one option: Cheat the system—at least a little. We hunted down the natural fixes, at-home hacks, and pro strategies and the good news is, There is a way to look refreshed and awake – even if your sleep schedule is in the dumps

Tip 1: Shut it down – electronics that is. Before going to sleep, shut down all electronics – that means TV, computer and, yes, your blackberry. These all are stimulants for the brain, and if you’re answering emails in bed at 10 p.m., you’re going to have a difficult time getting to sleep. Hit the power switch at least an hour before bedtime.

Tip 2: Get up … NOW! Once the alarm goes off, get out of bed immediately. Snoozing is not sleep; it’s just prolonging the inevitable.

Tip 3: So now that you’re up – do something. Try a morning workout to get motivated and feel energized for the day. Take a quick run or hit an early morning spin class. Be sure to challenge yourself first thing and then see how much easier your morning commute feels.

Tip 4: Hydrate. Great-looking skin isn’t just about what you put on it, but also what you put in your body. Skip that morning cup of coffee, which can be dehydrating, and drink a glass of ice water instead. The cold water will not only give you a kick in the morning, but also help hydrate skin, leaving it looking and feeling refreshed.

Tip 5: Wakeup and fake it! Use a hydrating and stimulating makeup like Almay Wake-Up Makeup – a favorite of celeb Kate Hudson. This product contains essential minerals and ingredients, such as cucumber and aloe, which soothe and hydrate skin. It also has first-of-its-kind encapsulated water technology – once the powder touches your skin, it releases a cooling sensation that gives you an added boost in the morning.

Tip 6: Do NOT skip breakfast. You’ve worked out, you’ve hydrated, you’re looking gorgeous. Why deny your body the nutrients it needs to keep it looking and feeling refreshed by walking out the door without grabbing a quick bite?

Tip 7: Take a Breather!  Pranayama, a breathing technique straight from the yoga studio, can help refresh your face, says Jamé Heskett, MD, founder and medical director of The Wellpath in New York City. The practice boosts circulation, moving the blood that stagnates in the body during sleep. "At the same time, you're oxygenating the body with deep breathing," she says. And since a vibrant complexion relies on oxygen and nutrients being pumped into the small blood vessels and capillaries in the face, it's important to keep that circulation going strong

Heskett's technique: Breathe in as deeply as you can, and then breathe out as deeply as you can, keeping each breath as level and equal in length as possible. While you do that, contract your muscles starting at your toes and working your way up to your face. Work 3 to 5 minutes of pranayama breathing into your morning routine to look and feel more awake.

Tip 8: Get glossy. If your hair never manages to look shiny, it'll always lend a drab, tired vibe to your look. To temporarily boost glossiness, opt for a shine-enhancing serum, like , and use it daily. For a more long-lasting effect, ask for a professional glaze during your next trip to the salon. Not only does it immediately add luster to the hair, but it can also last up to 24 shampoos, says Eva Scrivo, owner of Eva Scrivo Salons in New York City.

Tip 9: Consider highlights: "Highlights are magical, They pick up light and illuminate the entire face. To reap the brightening benefits, This guide below to find the best highlight hue for you.

Hair color Highlight color
Light brown —> Medium gold to dark blonde
Medium brown —> Light brown to dark gold
Medium-dark brown —> Cognac and dark or rich honey
Dark (espresso) brown to black —> Light to medium brown
Red —> Golden copper

Tip 10: Cold Spoons.  For a real wake-up call, press two chilled teaspoons gently around the eye sockets for a few seconds at a time. The cold spoons will act as a mini ice pack, instantly cooling sleepy eyes and reducing the swelling of under-eye bags.

Here are five styles that are perfect for breastfeeding mothers.

1. Wrap dresses & maxis

Wrap dresses can be found in so many different styles, colors and prints and are perfect for breastfeeding. It provides easy access for feedings and looks cute. The best thing about a wrap dress is how easy it is to adjust to your changing body post baby.

2. Off-the shoulder tops & dresses

5. Side Ruched tank tops & Dresses

Tank tops & Dresses with side ruching are the best! In fact, you can purchase these during pregnancy as they stretch and hold true to your body. You should have a few of these on hand and layer them under your clothes. I wear them all the time under my clothes during the day and as pajamas at night time.

Leather Leggings Styled 10 Ways

Leather Leggings Styled 10 Ways

As we head into the chillier months I thought it was the perfect time to share 3 ways to style my absolute favorite alternative for when my Denim Mom jeans need a rest (or a wash); Leather leggings! Leather Leggings are an absolute must to mix up your winter wardrobe and add a little edge to your wardrobe. I purchased the j Spanx Moto leggings a while back during the Nordstrom anniversary sale. With the price obviously going up on these after the sale I would label them as an investment piece and certainly not the best option if you arent already rotating leather leggings into your wardrobe.

Not to Worry! Along with style advice you can find links to try a pair of leather leggings and decide for yourself!

What I think I love most about leather leggings is how easy they are to transition from daytime casual to a sophisticated evening look. I am certainly more of a leggings over jeans gal just for the sole fact they are more versatile than jeans.

For a daytime look try:

a graphic tee layered with a flannel or or basic tank with a longer length cardigan

My weekend go to look is 80% of the time the following
 combination of oversized pullover sweater
with flats or booties.
It takes almost the same time it would to throw on a sweatshirt
and sweats but it obviously looks about a million times better.

I gravitate towards modest sweaters with high necklines or longer
hemline. THIS SWEATER or THIS ONE are perfect.

  • Swap out booties for a pair of pumps. On the chillier winter evenings add in another layer to your look by opting for suede over the knee boots.
  • A tailored peplum or relaxed top with feminine detailing balance and soften the look of leather leggings
  • Try a basic sweater with edgy statement jewelry or scarf.
  • Do a simple swap out of your flannel or cardigan for a tailored blazer

Life Happens & sometimes as a result of that body image challenges arise.   I think for a lot of us its a silent struggle because plastered across our pinterest boards, printed in magazines, blogged about, etc. there seems to be a constant norm of what stylish & trendy or pretty & polished looks like to the popular media.

Prior to launching our website and even 3 years later as I type this, i've watched my body as it has fluctuated up and down the size chart. When our weight goes up and down by a few pounds or more, or if we experience bloating from digestive distress, crazy hormones, or whatever, figuring out what to wear can become difficult.  Even if body fluctuations occur from things as awesome as long awaited pregnancy or recently giving birth, All of us at some point will be scratching our heads in that dilemma of figuring out what styles, fabrics, or fits to embrace.

Below we have outlined 10 Must Haves for a Fluctuating Figure.  Even better is the products we've referenced below are all under $75!

A wrap dress whittles the waist, flatters curves, and turns you into a bombshell.  If your petite try reaching for a midi or mini wrap dress or if you are curvier or pear shaped look for a maxi wrap dress.

Wether you prefer prints or solids, this dress can be worn to work, but can also be dressed up for an after-work event, a wedding, or date night.

With the growing popularity of this style, the classic wrap dress has morphed into a variety of wrap-ish dresses too. In my experience, most of our customers have made up their mind as to whether or not they should or should not wear a wrap dress based on their body type.

Nonetheless, there are so many wrap and wrap-ish dresses out there, I urge you to try a few different styles next time you’re on the hunt for a dress.  Don’t make the mistake of lumping all wrap dresses in together; they are not all created equal.  Typically, you'll find that there are, of course, the tried-and-true wrap dresses that actually wrap and tie or belt. Then, there are wrap-ish dresses that are sewn together but still tie or belt.  I encourage if you haven't tried either type already giving both a try to determine what suits your unique style and taste!    Here are some of our FAVORITE true and faux wrap dresses.

2.  The Shirtdress
My schedule makes it hard to maintain an ideal weight. Between staying up late screen planning, overseeing the rollout of our new website and warehouse expansion, looking over new prints and fits, and spending time with my husband, and setting up our larger warehouse, I'm busier than ever. A shirtdress looks good at any size & creates one continuous line. And with a belt, it will fit and look great even if I gain or lose an inch

3.  Stuff With Spandex

This can be a blessing and a curse — the more spandex there is in an item, the more it will stretch (and, depending on how it’s made, even reshrink again upon each washing). We love the added detailing of

4.  Elastic Waist Bottoms

I’m talking pants, skirts and even dresses with an elasticised waist can cope with weight fluctuations and be super forgiving. You can wear them higher or lower too depending on how you feel.

For example, I fluctuate mainly in my thighs and tummy. I find that wearing an elasticised skirt higher, at the narrowest point of my waist, is much more flattering than wearing it lower, around my waist. If I manage to lose a little bloat and have a flatter stomach, the same skirt can be worn lower on my hips.

Likewise, jogger style pants with a drawstring or elasticised waist – which are thankfully an on trend casual street style must – give you more room to move than a fitted, tight pair of jeans.  We also love a high waisted wide leg pant.  It hugs the narrowest part of the waist and makes for a chic and timeless look when tucked with a neutral relaxed fit blouse

5.  Leggings

Ahhh The Coveted Legging.  Oh how we love the at any size.  That little black dress feel good moment is the feeling I get with a good legging!
Don't have the time or the patience to continue squeezing into those too-small clothes or watch as those too-big skinny jeans look more like a pair of bad boyfriend jeans?  Invest in some thicker stretch fabric leggings.  Leggings aren't just for wearing on the weekends or to the gym anymore. They always fit and a thicker fabric with seaming and a higher waist offer a polished look that can go from boardroom to Sunday brunch by swapping out tops and accessories.

6. Tunics

Tunics tend to be forgiving and flowy, but are styled to look that way. (see below) This is an important point. You don’t want to start buying things two sizes too big to cover up the fact that you’ve gained weight. You won’t be fooling anyone and it won’t look good. Tunics are also wearable despite weight gain and loss–  When in doubt for casual wear just remember this tried and true math equation:

Leggings + tunic + boots or sandals = great look on everyone.

7.  Oversized Tops & Layers –

oversized styles have been on trend for some time and are great options particularly if you expect your weight to fluctuate, such as through and after a pregnancy.

From chunky cardigans and oversized jumpers through to oversized dresses, such as our Abigail Maxi Dress, these styles give you loads of room to move and will still look great if your weight/shapes changes.

8.  Invest in Accessories
